BIO
Aidan is a Maryland born-and-raised sailor who grew up on the Potomac River in DC. After taking a step back for a few years to pursue his career, he now actively races on several East Coast-based offshore teams. With a passion for learning, he is always looking for more challenging experiences as a team member and as a budding navigator. When he is not on the water, you can find him managing camera departments on major motion pictures and television shows all across the US. This work often includes technical problem solving under pressure, smooth handling of logistics, and feats of leadership - all skills that transfer perfectly to life at sea. Oh but for 59º North? I take photos (:

Leadership
When at all possible, I don't believe in Leader/Follower dynamics - it makes for a weaker team. The key to good leadership is ensuring operational clarity and technical competence among the crew, then you can start to assign agency to the crew and you're no longer relying on a single brain to keep the whole operation going. If you can remove the "leader" from the situation and it still functions smoothly, that's what I define as good leadership. See "Turn The Ship Around" by L. David Marquet
