BIO
Manot grew up far from the water, at a 1'000m altitude in Switzerland. Sailing remained a dream until he moved near Lake Leman, to study philosophy. There, he stepped onto his first sailboat, and sailed until he became intimate with the alpine lake's temperament. Passionate about many things, and with a strong taste for adventure and exploration, sailing soon became his main endeavor. Aiming to sail to and explore some the most remote places of the planet.

Passion
Oh man! Haha, endless topic! Where to start? I'm a passionate learner. I pick one topic after the other, learning everything there is to learn about it... Some of my all time favorite topics: - nature of consciousness - nature of the universe - space - earth (ecosystems, biology, geology) - chemistry - physics (quantum) - music - movement (sport, dance) - technology - people (psychology) - how stuff is made, how stuff works - art - and of course sailing, which has been and will continue to be my main focus
Leadership
Qualities that make a good leader, to me: Clear and good communication. A good understanding of the situation, beeing able to take the right decisions at the right time. Beeing able to reevaluate as a situation changes, beeing willing to question him/herself, willing to admit when wrong, beeing open to other people's imput. Finding and promoting qualities in the crew, getting a feel for (understanding) people on-board, so as to truly create an engaging atmosphere, using everyone's individual skills to the teams advantage, while coatching and supporting the individual difficulties amongst the crew. Specific to ocean sailing: the stakes can be pretty high at times, it's important for a leader to know when and how to take full control of a situation, all the while keeping a nice atmosphere where everyone feels safe and respected. Qualities that make a good follower: willingness to follow instructions when needed, willingness to communicate when something is not totally clear to them or they do not understand a task. In both cases, leader and follower, communication is key. Beeing a follower to me is an active role. Also, a good follower might need to be a good leader in some cases, and likewise, a good leader might need to be a good follower at times.
