I am only 31, but have been thoroughly bemused by the vocabulary used on board this trip. Kip, our Gen Z representative on board, has said he’ll write the blog today- so you too can see what we’ve been dealing with…
Ayo waddup playahs, its ya boi kip coming at ya live from the Pacific Ocean on Nordic Falken ya heard. We are straight up having a grand ole time sailing away toward our final destination of Hawaii. We are in very high and good spirits, but if it tells you anything, we had a 30 minute conversation last night about all the things we are going to eat when we get to land.
Right now, I’m writing this eating the focaccia bread that Skipper Mary made and it’s lowkey so good I’m starting to have visions. Well ok where to begin, last night was really nice, we were sailing with the Milky Way above us, straight up having a good time, and I have found that the good nights are when you get off watch and you do not want to immediately go to bed because, as Mahatma Gandhi said: “the vibes are like the water around us, they be flowing.’ We were discussing all the tings we wanna eat and, straight up, someone get my boi Steeze and ice cold coke, cause this man is in dire need.
Anyway, the sailing has been chill, we have been going at a steady pace and pretty much been vibing out the whole time. Easy helming, not many adjustments to make, just 11 friends, 11 new friendships, but one common goal: get our badonkadonks to Hawaii. I am actually surprised no one has gone mad yet but there is still time. We have all been good spirits despite being on a boat, not being able to get away from each other for 10 days now, and i think this is a crew that is straight up bonded for life.
The heat has also died down, we were lowkey getting cooked up there during the doldrums but we survived. The winds have picked up and as we inch closer to the poke, i can feel myself getting more and more excited.
Wow, this log entry really shows how bad my ADHD is but, as the late, great Bob Saget once said: ” Screw it, we ball.”
Anyways Kip out, gonna go scour the boat to find Steeze a coke real quick.

The Human Factor
Thus our existence slowly reverted to a much simpler form of being. We start to notice the smaller things, we start looking up and around, we start observing our thoughts. Sailing can be a great social accelerator. Sharing hardship and milestones, friendships are born and evolve at a speed that would seem impossible from land. And after those three weeks spent with you, I am getting ready to leave our vessel with the profound conviction that those bonds will stay with us for the rest of our lives.
The Penultimate Blog from Adrienne II
After 20 days, and 3000+ nautical miles, we're back on land. The motley crew of Adrienne II, consisting of 7 happy amateurs supported by 3 professionals, have completed an epic journey many dream of but few realize. So much of this trip has been about being present - with nature, with each other, with this boat. My biggest takeaway from this trip is the amazing crossing of the ITCZ (Inter Tropical Convergence Zone). We all hope you've enjoyed the blog as much as we've enjoyed creating it.
Mother Nature, you’ve outdone yourself!
It’s been a great experience to have a non-traditional trans-Atlantic, as it’s been packed with genuinely cool features. The Doldrums!! A place sailors have been talking about for centuries. The unpredictability is what made it such an exhilarating experience. While some might be frightened or alarmed by this kind of weather, I was embodied with a sense of calm and awe. There’s something wildly beautiful about being reminded how small you are, while feeling so incredibly alive.
