SYNOPSIS

Aberdeen is one of the ports hosting the Tall Ships Races 2025, and ISBJØRN will be surrounded by a fleet of incredible, historic ships. The Race event in town starts on July 19, and it’s highly recommended that you arrive early and get to experience the event before joining ISBJØRN.

While not part of the race event, ISBJØRN will depart with the fleet on July 22. August has done this once before, and the feeling of being out there on the water surrounded by tall ships setting their sails and crews singing their shanties are amongst his favorite sailing experiences ever.

We’ll tag on and follow the fleet across the North Sea to Kristiansand, the next port of call for the Tall Ships Race. It’s a proper offshore passage, and we’ll no doubt get into racing mode to try and keep up with the big ships for as long as we can!

typical Weather Pattern

Prevailing winds (which is a term that does not really fit the North Sea) is out of the west, statistically. We’ll be more likely than not to have the wind behind us, but we’ll need to be prepared for anything.

July is one of the warmest months in the North Sea region. Daytime temperatures can range from around 59-77ºF (15-25ºC). July is one of the sunniest months for the North Sea, with long daylight hours and extended periods of sunlight, creating ideal visibility.

The month is generally drier compared to fall and winter, with occasional, brief rain showers. Sea conditions are likely to be relatively calm.
