SYNOPSIS

Meet ISBJØRN in her home port of Bergen for her frist ever all-women’s passage! We’ll set sail across the North Sea like true Vikings, with our crosshairs on Fair Isle. This is August’s favorite destination in the whole world, and is one that is not easy to get to. Not even by sailboat! So we can only get in there if the conditions are favorable. If they are not, we’ll keep going on to the Orkneys. Steep cliffs, exciting currents and amazing bird life — and that’s all before you even step ashore!

Our destination is Aberdeen on the east coast of Scotland which is one of the host cities of the Tall Ships Races 2025! Plan on staying here for a few days to witness this wondrous event, and to step aboard some historic tall ships.

typical Weather Pattern

Wind and sea conditions are likely to be relatively calm during July. While the North Sea can be known for its choppy waters, the summer months tend to offer smoother sailing conditions. There are no real prevailing winds, and we’ll be prepared for any point of sail!

July is one of the warmest months in the North Sea region. Daytime temperatures can range from around 59-77ºF (15-25ºC). July is one of the sunniest months for the North Sea, with long daylight hours and extended periods of sunlight, creating ideal visibility.
