SYNOPSIS
Want to visit the quaintest harbor in Europe, but uncertain if that means going to Lofoten or Torshavn? Join this epic sail and find out for yourself! A proper offshore passage, we will also cross the North Sea and the Arctic Circle! There will be plenty of opportunities to learn about weather routing and passage strategy, as finding the perfect window for the crossing will require some skill. For this reason, the trip is set for 16 days, giving us some weather flexibility. The crossing itself will most likely take around a week. If we need to await a good weather window, the Faroes offer amazing cruising grounds, but if we set off early, we’ll have time to explore the Lofoten Islands.
typical Weather Pattern
Expect temperatures ranging from 36-56ºF (2-13ºC). The North Atlantic's variable and sometimes strong winds may be present, producing moderate to strong winds and the possibility of gales. Good chance of rain, fog and possibly even snow.
Daylight hours will be increasing as you move towards the Arctic Circle, providing more daylight. While the Northern Lights are more visible during the darker winter months, April still offers a small chance to see them.
