SYNOPSIS

Join ISBJØRN in Bergen, Norway for an intensive week of sail training! We will sail the fjords, archipelagos and the open ocean around Bergen, practicing the many aspects of seamanship, including sail trim, helmsmanship, heavy-weather sailing, piloting & navigation, instruments, downwind sailing, and more. We'll end most days at a new and gorgeous port or anchorage, but also come prepared for some overnight sailing!

typical Weather Pattern

The weather on the Norwegian coast and the North Sea can be unpredictable, even in the summer. Full foul weather gear and thermal long underwear are definitely recommended with possibility of rain, squalls and cool temperatures, but also warm sunshine at any time. Bergen is at 60 degrees North, but the Gulf stream keeps the climate relatively mild, and temperatures usually range between 12°C to 16°C during the daytime. You can expect around 12 to 14 hours of daylight, with sunrise typically around 6:30 AM and sunset around 7:30 PM.
