SYNOPSIS
This trip is a mid-season sea trial placed within one of Isbjørn’s maintenance periods, and is an opportunity to experience 59 North behind the scenes. It is only available to returning 59 North Crew. It will be led by Manot Berger, his first time skippering ISBJØRN. In addition to having a great adventure, this trip comes with two additional mission objectives; Sea trialing the boat - identifying and taking care of any issues that might surface - and getting Manot aquatinted with ISBJØRN.
The itinerary will be decided by the weather and the skipper in the moment. It will likely consist of sailing by day and picturesque harbours by night for the most part, but will likely include a longer offshore stretch and some overnight sailing too. Like in our popular Sail Training Camps, you’ll aim to go through ISBJØRN’s entire repetoire.
typical Weather Pattern
The weather on the Norwegian coast and the North Sea can be unpredictable, even in the summer. Full foul weather gear and thermal long underwear are recommended with possibility of rain, squalls and cool temperatures, but also warm sunshine at any time. Bergen is at 60 degrees North, but the Gulf stream keeps the climate relatively mild, and temperatures usually range between 12°C to 20°C during the daytime. You can expect 24 hours of daylight, with sunrise typically around 04:00 AM and sunset around 11:00 PM.
