Join ISBJØRN in Bergen, Norway, for a spring crossing of the North Sea! We’ll start the journey in the heart of the city, and set sail westward for the gorgeous islands of the Norwegian Sea, just like the Vikings did a thousand years ago. We’ll have some great cruising options for our passage with a stop along the way depending on our weather strategy. We’ll continue on north and westwards until enormous cliffs rise out of the ocean, swaddled by waterfalls and puffins. Welcome to the mystical Faroe Islands.

Perhaps THE classic, bucket-list ocean passage that we all dream about, the iconic Marquesas Islands lie 3,000-miles downwind of the Galapagos. This passage is as long as a Trans-At and includes an Equator crossing, so be prepared for a visit from Neptune and get ready to earn your shellback tattoo! Can an ocean passage get more exotic than this?

#2 ISBJØRN | Faroe Islands – Lofoten

Want to visit the quaintest harbor in Europe, but uncertain if that means going to Lofoten or Torshavn? Join this epic sail and find out for yourself! A proper offshore passage, we will also cross the North Sea and the Arctic Circle! There will be plenty of opportunities to learn about weather routing and passage strategy, as finding the perfect window for the crossing will require some skill. For this reason, the trip is set for 16 days, giving us some weather flexibility. The crossing itself will most likely take around a week.

#7 FALKEN | Marquesas – Tuamotus – Tahiti

Another iconic South Pacific route taking in several of the classic landfalls of the South Seas. Navigate the famed “dangerous archipelago” of the Tuamotus in French Polynesia with their low-lying reefs and confusing currents. Then make a final landfall on the lush and enchanting island of Tahiti after 800 miles at sea.

The Ultimate Norway experience! Join ISBJØRN in one of the stunning towns in Lofoten and sail south, across the Arctic Circle, and along one of the most beautiful coastlines on the planet. The trip will likely be a mix of daysails between picturesque island harbors and longer, offshore hops when the wind is particularly favorable.
We’ll sail up Sognefjord, the longest fjord in the world, to Aurlandsfjord and the port of Flåm. From there you will take one of the steepest trains in the world to connect to Oslo or Bergen.

Since it’s so hard to get to the Pacific, we couldn’t resist adding a cruising passage in Tahiti. Join us in Pape’ete and we’ll sail the 150-miles or so over to Bora Bora, stopping at Moorea en route if time allows. We’ll explore Bora Bora, then return upwind to Pape’ete after a week or so. This will be a different type of trip from our normal offshore passages, with time to swim, anchor, explore ashore and experience French Polynesia!

#4 ISBJØRN | Flåm – Bergen

Join us in Flåm by taking one of the steepest train rides in the world to the longest fjord in the world! We’ll sail west through the Sognefjord, exploring as we go. Once out in the coastal waters, we’ll turn south for Bergen.

#8 FALKEN | Tahiti – Palmyra – Hawaii

The South Pacific is too big to make it all the way to New Zealand/Australia in one season with the extended cyclone risk, so we’ll sail north from Tahiti in French Polynesia, back across the Equator and on towards Hawaii. But not before taking in the remote Palmyra Atoll en route. This is a big one: 3,000-miles of ocean sailing across two hemispheres and taking in a variety of weather patterns and some exotic landfalls—a true test of seamanship.

#5 ISBJØRN | Shetland Race | Bergen – Shetland – Bergen

Join us for the Shetland Race and set sail across the North Sea! This is an offshore yacht race between Bergen and Lerwick, the capital of the Shetland Islands in Scotland. The race is sailed in two legs – Bergen to Lerwick for the first leg, then the return for the second leg with a few days in between for celebrations, recovery and exploring the Shetland Islands.

#5A ISBJØRN | Sea Trials

This trip is a mid-season sea trial placed within one of Isbjørn’s maintenance periods, and is an opportunity to experience 59 North behind the scenes. It is only available to returning 59 North Crew. The itinerary will be decided by the weather and the Skipper in the moment. It will likely consist of sailing by day and picturesque harbours by night for the most part, but will likely include a longer offshore stretch and some overnight sailing too. Like in our popular Sail Training Camps, you’ll aim to go through ISBJØRN’s entire repetoire.

#9 FALKEN | Hawaii – British Columbia

Another big ocean passage, over 2,000 miles, as we continue north and around the North Pacific High to British Columbia. We’ll aim for Prince Rupert Sound, right on the Canadian border with Alaska. Temperatures will steadily drop as we leave the Trades and Tropics behind, but with luck we’ll be able to follow the High and have good sailing angles throughout.

#6 ISBJØRN | Bergen – Aberdeen | ALL WOMEN passage

Meet ISBJØRN in her home port of Bergen to set sail across the North Sea on her very first All-Women’s passage! Expect to make a stop before reaching Aberdeen as long as conditions allow. Aberdeen, on the east coast of Scotland, is one of the host cities of the Tall Ships Races 2025! Plan on staying here for a few days to witness this wondrous event, and to step aboard some historic tall ships.

#7 ISBJØRN | Aberdeen – Kristiansand

Aberdeen is one of the ports hosting the Tall Ships Races 2025, and ISBJØRN will be surrounded by a fleet of incredible, historic ships. The Race event in town starts on July 19, and it’s highly recommended that you arrive early and get to experience the event before joining ISBJØRN.
While not part of the race event, ISBJØRN will depart with the fleet on July 22 to tag along and follow the fleet across the North Sea to Kristiansand, the tall ships’ next port of call.

#8 ISBJØRN | Kristiansand – Bergen

Kristiansand is one of the ports hosting the Tall Ships Races 2025, and ISBJØRN will be surrounded by a fleet of incredible ships. While not part of the race event, ISBJØRN will depart with the fleet on August 2. Being out there on the water surrounded by tall ships setting their sails and singing their shanties will be an epic start to the trip.

#10 FALKEN | Ketchikan, AK – Victoria, BC

59º North’s first foray into the Pacific Northwest! We’ll start in Ketchikan, Alaska after moving FALKEN across the border between passages then sail down the coast of British Columbia before making landfall in Victoria, on the southern end of Vancouver Island. Expect whales, mountains, variable and challenging weather, and a mix of offshore and inshore navigating as we effectively complete the Race to Alaska course in reverse.
SPICA | STOCKHOLM ARCHIPELAGO & BALTIC Sailing

Join Andy in his backyard in Sweden for a week of cruising in the spectacular Stockholm Archipelago, aboard his and Mia’s personal Olle Enderlein 36 SPICA. There are literally thousands of islands to explore with spectacular nature and easy sailing. If the conditions are right and the group is up for it, we’ll venture out into the Baltic for an overnight sail to Gotland or Åland. Crew is limited to 3 individuals, or 4 if a couple or group of friends join and can share the vee-berth.

Join ISBJØRN in Bergen, Norway for an intensive week of sail training! We will sail the fjords, archipelagos and the open ocean around Bergen, practicing the many aspects of seamanship, including sail trim, helmsmanship, heavy-weather sailing, piloting & navigation, instruments, downwind sailing, and more. We'll end most days at a new and gorgeous port or anchorage, but also come prepared for some overnight sailing!

Join us in Malta for the Rolex Middle Sea Race! This Mediterranean offshore classic is one of the world's iconic 600-mile offshore races, alongside the Fastnet and the Sydney-Hobart. Steeped in history, the race originally came about due to a rivalry between members of the British Royal Ocean Racing Club and the Royal Malta Yacht Club in 1968. Starting and ending in Malta, the counter-clockwise racecourse circumnavigates the island of Sicily and is known for its changeable weather conditions, and unrivaled natural beauty.

#12 FALKEN | San FRANCISCO – Ensenada, MEX

NEW PASSAGE! 59º North’s first stint on the west coast of the USA! We’ll start in iconic San Francisco with a day of weather, safety & boat briefings. Then it’s out through the famous Golden Gate and offshore to Mexico, some 500+ miles south. Expect to learn all aspects of ocean sailing on this passage and get the real deal in the Pacific.

#13 FALKEN | Ensenada, MEX – San Diego | sail training passage

NEW PASSAGE! The return passage to San Diego will be a more technically-focused and educational ‘Sail Training Passages’. We’ll spend more time in-port prior to departure diving deep on the details of seamanship, from weather routing and forecasting to knots, splicing, chart work, systems and more. With consistent breeze off Baja California and a short rhumb-line distance to San Diego, we have plenty of space for all points of sail and in-depth training offshore. Offshore, the passage may be broken up into shorter sails or one longer passage.

#5 FALKEN | Panama – Galapagos

Our first-ever passage in the Pacific Ocean, and one of the world’s classic routes! Sail west into the Pacific from Panama, towards the Equator and make landfall in arguably the most exotic islands in the world, the famed Galapagos! Details remain to be sorted out on the regulatory-side, but we are SO excited to take FALKEN to these magical islands and share it with you! Enjoy a 1,000-mile passage and get time to explore the Galapagos on arrival.

#4 FALKEN | Colombia – San Blas & Panama (Canal Transit)

Two trips in one, as we start with a 250+ mile downwind sail towards Panama & the famed San Blas Islands, before shifting into inshore mode and transiting the famed Panama Canal and into the Pacific! We have more time scheduled for this passage than is necessary to allow for bureaucratic & logistical delays in the Canal itself. Transiting the Canal and entering a new ocean is a bucket-list adventure for us at 59º North, and adding a little ocean sailing on top is the icing on the cake!

#3 FALKEN | Antigua – Colombia

For the first time in 59º North’s history, we’ll touch the shores of South America! From Antigua, we’ll sail west and downwind, angling ever further south towards our rendezvous with the Panama Canal and the gateway to the Pacific Ocean. We’ll stop in Colombia, a once off-limits South American country that in the past couple decades has opened its coast to cruisers on their way west!

Join FALKEN off the coast of Africa in the Canary Islands for our classic, downwind Trade Winds passage to the Caribbean! This is what you dream about—'sail south until the butter melts, then turn right.' With the winter winds at our back, you can expect many days of spinnaker sailing and plenty of downwind helming experience. There will be tropical squalls to contend with and lots of beautiful, starry nights.

Join FALKEN in charming Lagos, Portugal for the first passage of the season, an ALL WOMEN’s PASSAGE! Depart from Portugal’s beautiful Algarve coast to cross the shipping lanes of the Strait of Gibraltar. From there we’ll sail southwest to the Canary Islands. This passage typically gives us following breezes with good opportunity for spinnaker sailing. Air temperatures will pleasantly get warmer before making landfall in the Canaries.
