The legendary Biscay crossing is a passage of contrasts. The journey starts in cold, wet and windy UK, before punching upwind through the SW’lies in Biscay. Just when you think you can’t take any more wet, upwind, heeled over sailing, the temps start to get warmer and the wind starts to shift. By the time you hit the coast of Portugal, you’ll be shedding layers and sailing downwind in the sunshine!

After FALKEN’s first stopover in our adopted homeport in Sweden, we’ll head west towards Scotland for the first leg of the passage south ending this leg in Plymouth, UK. The aim is to get across the North Sea before the fall storms. Expect variable weather and lots of navigational challenges as we traverse the oil rigs and depressions of the North Sea, bound for a spectacular landfall in northern Scotland, before sailing south to Plymouth.

Join FALKEN in beautiful and historic Bergen, Norway for our 2024 All Women’s Passage! After provisioning, safety orientation and weather briefing, we’ll cruise the fjords of Norway getting familiar with the boat underway before heading offshore. Weather and wind will dictate our course as we sail into the North Sea bound for its southern shores and a new destination port for 59º North—Amsterdam!

From Galway, we'll sail north along the rugged west coast of Ireland. Weather and wind will dictate the schedule, but we should have the opportunity to make a stop or two along the way with possibilities like Isle of Skye, Orkney, Fair Isle, and Shetland. It’ll be challenging sailing around the north of Scotland, with strong tidal currents, a likelihood of fog, oil rigs and of course the probability of heavy weather at some point. From there, we'll sail east across the North Sea following in the footsteps of the Vikings to make landfall in beautiful, historic Bergen—homeport of ISBJORN.

We are headed back to CUBA! Our first passage to Havana in 2016 aboard ISBJORN was one of the most memorable ever, and we haven’t been back since. From Port Antonio on Jamaica’s northeast corner, it’s 800 miles to Havana, first passing south of Cuba, skirting the Cayman Islands, then entering the Straits of Florida and riding the Gulf Stream current down the home stretch to Havana.
